In many parts of the world new civic societies emerging from shattering conflict and revolution are facing the challenge to (re)construct nothing less than entirely new nations. Urgent calls to define political participation, state identity, economic self-determination, basic freedoms and reconciliation among resolute opponents have transformed seemingly local conflicts into issues of global concern. Considering this scenario in the age of social networks, collaborative media and open data #OSJUBA seeks to apply the methodologies of the world's diverse open source communities in creating new forms of development in regions of lingering conflict and post-war society.

The international conference and workshop takes place on June 22, 10 am–6 pm, at SUPERMARKT, Brunnenstrasse 69, Berlin. #OSJUBA is initiated by r0g (Agency for Open Culture, Art and Critical Transformation, Berlin) and MICT (Media in Cooperation and Transition, Berlin).

On June 21, 7–9 pm, KOW presents the #OSJUBA opener with a discussion introducing the current scenario of South Sudan and its capital Juba, one year upon independence, and the role Open Source Culture can play in helping to create new civil structures in a country working to define it's own post-war identity.
